CIA Logo
The CIA is a US government agency authorized to monitor foreign citizens and organizations. It appeared in 1947. It consists of four directorates engaged in intelligence, espionage, the execution of secret operations, the collection of data on scientific and technical achievements, and the solution of internal administrative issues.
Meaning and History
The current Central Intelligence Agency logo is printed. Its design was adopted on February 17, 1950, by the incumbent head of state Harry Truman and has not changed since then. According to the approved documents, the official symbols of the CIA consist of several heraldic symbols.
The first is a rectangular heraldic shield with a pointed base. The second is a 16-pointed wind rose in the form of a stylized star. The third is a bald eagle looking to the left.
Below the shield is a yellow scroll with the red inscription "United States of America." The font is standard, sans serif. Above, the federal organization's full name is written in strict white letters: "Central Intelligence Agency." It is located in the form of an arch. All elements are placed inside a blue circle with a narrow yellow outline.
Font and Colors of the Emblem
Its conceptual elements well recognize the Central Intelligence Agency logo. It is a dark blue circle with a yellow border around the perimeter. There is a shield – a symbol of protection of the state and its people in the middle. It features a compass pointing in sixteen directions. This is how the authors defined control, increased vigilance, and receiving information from around the world. Above is the bald eagle – the main mascot of the United States. The bird is turned to the left, but its gaze is directed forward, directly at the beholder. Two blocks of inscriptions surround the central elements: the top on a blue field – the CIA's full name, at the bottom on a wide ribbon – the phrase "United States of America."
The parts of the emblem have a hidden meaning. The shield indicates the main purpose of the CIA – to protect the country from external enemies. The bald eagle stands for strength and vigilance. The red wind rose symbolizes space and time. It also depicts collecting intelligence from all over the world because 16 rays converge at one central point.
The developers chose a sleek, sans-serif typeface from the Sans Serif category to make it look crisp and instantly readable for the logo. The color scheme consists of dark blue, sunny yellow, black, gray, and red in two shades – burgundy and scarlet.
