How to Delete All Your Followers on Instagram!

Instagram lets you share moments of your life that you believe are worth seeing. With time, you create a base of followers who get a glimpse into your everyday life through their feed.

However, as you amass a larger and larger following, you're bound to gain a lot of followers that are complete strangers to you. For many people, this is an unwanted development as not everyone wants to share their personal pictures and videos with strangers.

If you feel like giving your Instagram account some refreshment and limiting the number of people you want to share your important moments with, removing followers is the way to go.

But what happens when you have hundreds or even thousands of them? How can you mass delete all of your Instagram followers?

Well, this is where a mass delete feature would be very useful.

Unfortunately, such an option isn't available. Instagram doesn't allow you to delete multiple followers at once, neither can you delete all of them by using the built-in features.

So what can you do?

Well, there are a couple of options at your disposal, so let's take a look at them.

How To Remove/Delete All Followers on Instagram

As mentioned above, there is, unfortunately, no way to quickly delete all of your followers on Instagram within the app itself.

Instead, we'll be looking at two alternative methods to remove all of your Instagram followers: manual deletion and third-party apps. Each of these options makes it easy to quickly delete all of your followers so that you can get a fresh start on Instagram

Manually Deleting Your Followers

If you want to delete all of your followers, the easiest, albeit annoying, way to do it is to manually delete them.

This is far from a convenient option, but it's the only one that Instagram offers. If you don't want to use a third-party app to remove your Instagram followers, you're going to have to remove each of them manually.

Here's how to do it:

From the home page, navigate to your profile by tapping on the profile icon in the bottom right.
Tap the Followers button to open the list of all your followers.
Use the search function to find a person you want to remove, or scroll through the list until you find them. Once you do, hit the Remove button next to their name.
Tap the Remove button to confirm the action and delete them from your list.

If your profile is unlocked, the only thing this does is remove the person from your list of followers. They'll still be able to see your posts, so if you want to make sure they can't do it, set your profile to private.

If you haven't done it already, here are the steps you need to take:

From your profile, open the menu by tapping on the "hamburger" icon at the upper-right corner of your screen.
From the pop-up menu, tap the gear icon labeled Settings
Select Privacy
Toggle the button next to Private Account to on.
Confirm this action by pressing Switch to Private

Once you've done this, people will have to send you a follow request in order to see your profile. This means that after you've removed a person, they'll see that your account is locked.

Your followers won't receive a notification that you've blocked them, nor will they be able to know it unless they type your handle in search.

If you don't want to set your account to private but still want to make sure certain people don't follow you, the only thing you can do is block them.

You can do this from the same menu from which you remove your followers, you'll just tap Block instead of Remove. After the confirmation window pops up, tap Block again.

These are the only built-in features that allow you to remove people from your list of followers. If you want to mass delete them, you'll have to go with a separate app.

Using a Third-Party App

There are a few good apps available for both iOS and Android that let you mass delete your followers. They all work in pretty much the same way: they show you a list of your followers and allow you to select multiple, or all of them, after which you can unfollow them in one tap.

Many of these apps are free, so they're a good solution for everyone wanting to delete all their followers.

They also have many other features that allow mass deletion, such as:

Bulk delete posts

Bulk block users
Undo feature for the activity log
White list manager

With third-party apps, always make sure that they don't misuse your personal information, as this is often the case with the free versions.

When it comes to social media, sometimes you just need a fresh start. However, starting over without deleting your account isn't always as easy as you might think.

Until Instagram rolls out a mass delete feature, these are your only options for removing followers. If you have thousands of them, a third-party solution is your best bet.
